UCAS – Chair of the Board

UCAS – Chair of the Board

A mission-driven, independent charity, UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is the UK’s shared undergraduate admissions service. UCAS has been at the forefront of connecting people to higher education since 1993, with its history stemming back to the early 1960s.

Each year UCAS supports over a million students from across the globe to explore their higher education choices at over 350 universities and colleges. UCAS also provides services related to admissions to universities and has an early careers offer. UCAS generates an annual income of around £55m and employs 600 hundred people.

UCAS’ next chapter is focused on using our reach, data-insights and modern technologies to support increasing participation and student success, whilst delivering additional value to the UK’s higher education providers. With our new strategy launching in 2025, the UCAS Board seeks to appoint a new, non-executive, Chair of Trustees. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional person to help ensure UCAS delivers for its beneficiaries and customers against its charitable objectives, and our vision that ‘All who could benefit from higher education, do.’

Demonstrable strategic expertise, highly-developed intellectual capacity and sustained board-level experience will be essential. Prior engagement with the Higher Education sector is highly desirable. Above all, it is essential that our new Chair is committed to UCAS’ objectives, purpose, and vision, and able to work collaboratively with the executive team, as well as fellow Trustees, at this critical time for UK higher education.

Applications are invited at your earliest convenience, and in any event by no later than 1pm on Wednesday 28th May.
